Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What materials do you build in?
A: I am a traditional boat builder, working in wood only. I use modern gluing and laminating methods when necessary. While I do not keep a large inventory of materials, I have many reliable sources for obtaining quality lumber and hardware at reasonable prices.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: I prefer to work time and material. Estimates for boat repair are sometimes difficult because of hidden problems. New construction, depending on type and size, can be approximated.
Q: What size vessel are you able to build or repair?
A: I have experience building or repairing hulls, decks, and interiors from skiffs on up to power and sail, pleasure or commercial.
Q: What do your facilities offer?
A: A small haulout railways that leads into a covered shop, limited to draft of vessel. The shop building area can accomodate vessels up to 60 feet. For deck and interior work there is dock space available along side of aforementioned shop, with full woodworking service.
Q: Do you build spars (masts and booms)?
A: Yes. The shop is equipped to build both hollow and solid spars to your specifications.
